Woohoo! Killed two birds with one stone!
Fixed the 'black screen around dialog boxes' problem and also the much more serious freezing problem experienced by Goober5000. It wasn't a crash, just an infinite loop. DX8 merge is GO! once again :)

Updated the DX8 code to allow it to be run in 640x480 windowed mode. The game will only procede to do so if your registry settings are set to 640x480 to begin with, but this is accomplished simply enough.

Fixed up a bug in the code which was causing all mission loads to crash.
As of this update, the DX merge is officially functional and complete within the CVS main branch. Tell Inquisitor we won't need to roll back at all, but Goober5000 needs to go and look at his SEXP code since he messed up a bunch of checking functions with it
