Summary0000081: Laserglow effects show through ship models
DescriptionThe problem can be seen in the screenshot; the turret projectiles are on the other side of the destroyer but are visible right through the ship. This bug was gone for a while but seems to be back in the 01_20_2004 build and occurs on D3D8 1024x768x32 without AA and with the options -htl, -jpgtga, -d3dmipmap, -fps and -fov 0.65.

This bug doesnt always happen, looks like it depends on what ever the render oder is. If you pause a scene with Alt-Pause and rotate round the scene at lease one or two objects will have the lasers rendered on top when they are behind.

DOes this happen in OGL as well I wonder?

The screen there was in the middle of standard gameplay though. Something ingame must be triggering it, as it tends to suddenly start occurring midway through a mission and then usually stays that way until the mission end.

This only happens in D3D, I've found a fix to it using some code Fry_day wrote, unfortunately this causes the lasers to render flat. V's original code applied some kind of distortion to give it depth from any viewpoint.

See code/render/3dlaser.cpp for the relevent code.

P.S. This is a htl bug and it can happen at any time, just depends on what the render order happens to be.
