Summary | 0001960: Briefing icon positions do not scale with resolution
Description | There is something wrong with the briefing icon positions in current builds. They are scaled so that the icons all appear near the middle of the screen and only take up a small portion of the briefing window. This looks funny and sometimes causes the icons or text to overlap, in missions where they previously looked fine. I am seeing this in 3.6.10 RC3 with both the 640x480 and 1024x768 interfaces.

I'm not sure if this is really an issue. But there are differences in briefing scaling when resolution is taken into account. Here is a video deomstrating that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg37kAGUf6E Use the test mission to reproduce easily. |

Uploaded briefingtest2.fs2 which has a much fuller briefing to make it easier to see the differences in resolutions... if any. |

Please look at the newly attached images. I think I understand better what the ticket is about. Though I'm not sure it's still worth the work to "fix". You can see in the 3 resolutions how the positions of the icons are scaled correctly for the briefing screen. A good example is the top left fighter icon. While it is cut off on 640x480.. it's still positioned to be partially on/off the grid. Now, you can see in the composite.jpg that the briefing icons in 640 (Overlaid in red) are still the exact same pixel size as the icons used in 1024. I suspect this is related to the code not being able to scale .anis or somesuch. (See Command Briefing ANIs being unable to scale.) Hope this helps. |

Yeah, the grid looks fine. If someone wants icons to scale, then he can put in a feature request for the 2_ prefix to be supported. |
