Summary0001759: BtRL jump out issues. Possibly Related to 1707 since Build 4746.
DescriptionPossibly Related to 1707 since Build 4746.

When ships jump out, targeting box remains. If it is an escort ship, it remains on the escort list. It takes no damage, but will generate engine wash (if a large ship) and collision effects with asteroids, though ships have no problem passing through it's "space".

Some builds will leave behind a flat disc like graphic from the jump out in the place of the ship. Consistently occurs on all builds past 4746 (which is a build I don't have, that ref comes from Chief) but does not occur on any builds prior to 4731 (which I do have)
Steps To ReproduceLaunch the Miner Escort mission in BtRL and either shoot the miner or fail to destroy asteroids until it's hull =<25% so it will depart.

Note: Firing on it for prolonged periods will cause mass hostility.
Additional InformationBuild personally tested with:
4712, 4722, 4731: Pass
4758, all C08xx2008: Fail

Also: Karajormas Argument-Changes build also suffers this effect (which is where I first noticed it originally, but I did not think any thing of it because of other issues I was having with the build)

Actually my guess was that it was 4746 that is causing the problem, I plan on building it tomorrow to see if it's where the problem started.

Based on SVN logs, I suspect this may be the revision that caused it, so please test with both of the above builds. Nothing else between 4731 and 4758 seemed terribly suspect for this bug. Test with both builds to be certain it was 4746.

Both of the supplied builds still exhibit the issue.

Seems the targetting issue goes way back. The graphical issue randomly goes as far back. I'm now testing all builds since BtRL's update release.

Okay: Jumped out ships still remaining targetable/etc started sometime along here:

C02182008: Pass
TBP_Fixes_In_3_6_10_Build (20080312): Pass
20080312-Goober5000: Pass
C03162008: Fail
20080321-Goober5000: Fail
Everything Since: Fail.

(Note: I don't include the XT builds, but they all pass.)

The graphical issue of the jump disc sticking around is a little more elusive, but I can track all builds for it as well if need be.

Check C09032008 (recent builds forum on HLP) and see if this still happens. I didn't focus specifically on this problem, but I'm pretty sure I got it in the overhaul of the FTL effect.

And just to be clear, this fixes targeting box and stuck graphic?
