| Summary | 0000864: Missions are no longer loadable in older versions | ||||
| Description | Topic says it, Missions created with Fred260204 cannot be loaded in older Fred-Versions again. And since the newer Fred-Version contains a few rather heavy bugs, this is a real problem. I tried to change my mission back via notepad, but it didn't worked very well, since I don't know what you have changed at all. I'm getting this error here : http://web396.xps1.microserver.de/wcsaga/Starman/pics/fred-error7.jpg This seems to be in the briefing part. I removed the $mirror:0 thing, and then I was getting this : http://web396.xps1.microserver.de/wcsaga/Starman/pics/fred-error8.jpg This seem to be a problem with every objects placed in the mission. I tried to open it with the 3.6.7 variant, which I usually worked with. No I have a major crash in the Fredbuild (see bug 0000852) and can't go back because all my missions are f... upped. Any quick help would be greatly appreciated. | ||||

Just a little update, It looks like I successfully corrected a mission in notepad. I deleted all the mirror-parts in the briefing, and added a $IFF=1 to all area objects (though I don't have a clue for what it's for, but the old version requires it). |

Yeah, these were things that were changed between versions of the mission. They're backwards-compatible, not forwards-compatible. Pretty much our goal is to remain compatible with retail and with the current SCP version, so I don't think this will be changed. Best thing to do is to post the bugs in the new version and we'll try to get those fixed. If you need to roll back to an earlier version, do the changes you mentioned. EDIT: The IFF thing isn't even used; it's just a vestigial parser flag. edited on: 03-14-06 11:28 |
