| Description | Suddenly while working on a mission, FRED wasn't able anymore to display the ship-info, I'm was just getting a white square. Strange thing, If I turn the feature "show ship info" on, it works as it should. Now, after that bug is in, I can exactly place one more model in this mission (and there aren't many yet). If I try to add a second one, FRED crashes. Real bad thing about this, that has been saved into the mission file. I even copied the info via notepad into a new file, the errors stays. It doesn't also matter if I run in HTL or not, the error is not to remove anymore. Luckily I'm not that far in the mission, but how can I be sure it happens later in another mission too were I did spent don't know how many hours into. | ||||
| Additional Information | The bug has been created in the "fred2_open_r-P420060226.exe" and in HTL-Mod, but the crash is also happening in the newest build since it's saved to the mission. I have also uploaded the mission-file, maybe it can be of some help | ||||

I can partially reproduce it now (since it happens everytime again when I rebuild that mission). Unlike my other missions, this is the first time I use transports with docked container, so maybe there is something wrong with the docking-code, but that's just for information what I did different in this mission. However, I figured out two situations where these white textblocks appear. 1) I place so many highpoly ships that I ran out of system-memory 2) I place a model in a large distance away from the mission-area center, in my example + 50.000 units on the z-axis. Now, I really fear to ask, but have you people changed/reduced the size of the mission-area ? I sincerly hope not |

Error is still in, but isn't releated at all to docked container stuff. But I can't reproduce the trigger that results into the failure. But the chance is 100% that the errors is created in every mission. I noticed also that the white square has nothing to do with it, that also happens in older builds and seem to be a small memory problem. I would change thread-title now if I could. |

Which build can I run to test in order to give feedback ? Is it already in the newest "recent build" ? |

if you can run my april 21 fred build (people seem to have trouble doing so), the bugfix is in that one. |

I think that this has been fixed now. I tried several constellations and the white square was gone and the ship info was displayed correctly. However, I'm also not able to recreate the bug in the old builds too. I have updated to the newest catalyst-drivers a few days back, maybe that also help saving the problem. Like stated, the crash I mentioned here was not related to the white textwindow, and has also been fixed by now. I think you can mark this one here "resolved". Starman |
