Summary0001127: Stealth doesn't work.
DescriptionPlaying a game of VA2 a few weeks ago I noticed I was getting creamed while flying a stealth. Was bored today so I gave it a couple more tries. Started game, flew over 2500 away from all enemies, sent AI home and parked. Sure enough the closest fighter (first pic) decided to go out of its way to track me down (second pic), lock on, and fire (third pic).
Additional InformationSimilar reports in issues # 225 and 783. 3.6.9 rc7do8. I was host and only player for this test. Was playing with others when I noticed the problem originally

I think that this is a duplicate of 0000225. I'll have to track down what that fix actually was and see if the problem has returned.

Noticed playing Mara Run last night that the friendly AI could easily kill enenmy stealths as well. I could not target them so player side seems to work.

is this with ships that naturally have stealth or are you using the SEXP. Cause I'm well aware of why the SEXP doesn't work and it's on my list of things to fix.

This is with the default stealth. Without looking I think it's the Pegasus. Little triangle shaped black ship. Haven't tested the Vasudan stealth.

Tiny little bump. I have 2 missions that require stealth to achieve the goals. Can't debug them without it working.

Looks like this got fixed somewhere along the line. Just tried a quick test using VA2 in the 3/14 XT build.

Please double-check that it's fixed in one of the trunk builds just to be sure that this isn't something which is Xt specific.

Doesn't work at all in Trunk. Couldn't get within 3000 of an enemy fighter without being targeted. Double checked in the 3/14 XT and it seems to work somewhat but still isn't retail behavior. I got to about 1600 away before being targeted by fighters but the cap fired a beam at me right off the bat. In retail I can fly all around with only being attacked occasionally. Hide behind the cap and they loose target again.

Also noticed that aspect seeking missiles were being fired at me. Didn't see that in retail but can't be 100% sure since I wasn't attacked much in retail.

Just discovered a new twist on this one. If you use the player starts under AI control the player ship can see and will attack stealth ships even if ordered to play dead.

I just gave this a try and I didn't get any error. I started with a ship 2600m away. It just went about its business. I flew to within 1000m without any effect. In the end I decided to tail the enemy ship and I found I wasn't detected even 5m away from it's engines. If I flew in front of it or fired or used afterburners I was picked up.

Which is exactly how I remember it working in retail.

Strange it is functioning like retail again. You can even run and the fighters will break off and go back to escorting so you can rearm. Wonder when this was fixed.
