Summary | 0002989: Broken Karuna name plate rendering in War in Heaven.
Description | Lighting on Karuna name plates (both UEF flag and ship name) in War in Heaven is completely wrong : - most of the time, reflections in the transparent areas are too strong, overbright ; - seen through subspace vortex, non transparent parts (the UEF Eagle, the ship's name) are black. Some screenshots here : http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=83318.msg1725941#msg1725941
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Compile a Blue Planet binary with latest trunk (tested with r10253) and BP.patch. I used these flags : ./autogen.sh CC=/usr/bin/clang CXX=/usr/bin/clang++ CFLAGS="-march=corei7-avx -O2 -pipe" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" make 2) Make sure to run Blue Planet war in heaven *without* the BP Compat VP files. Media VP 3612 mod is in use too. These are my settings : -mod blueplanet2,blueplanet,mediavps_3612 -missile_lighting -3dshockwave -post_process -fxaa -dualscanlines -orbradar -rearm_timer -ship_choice_3d -weapon_choice_3d -snd_preload -fb_explosions -fps -window -nograb -keyboard_layout "azerty" -spec_point 0.3 3) Go to mission simulator and run a mission where you can take a close look to a Karuna, especially exiting from subspace. I chose Delenda Est. At the begining of the mission, don't move, just watch the Indus exiting from subspace, to you left. It should present the issue.
Additional Information | - nvidia driver is 331 series, supporting openGL 4.3. - the graphics card is a nvidia GT 740M, optimus - bumblebee is in use (it's an hybrid graphics manager for nvidia+intel laptops on Linux. It's an opengl call redirector. It's not supposed to cause graphical glitches once the game has started, but if nobody is able to reproduce this bug i will investigate it)
