| Summary | 0000956: AI ignore target problem | ||||
| Description | If you tell AI fighters/bombers to ignore a certain target say a freighter and any AI's that were given that order and later are destroyed and then respawn they may still decide to attack that freighter. | ||||
| Additional Information | Happens with FS Open Release Candidate 3 and earlier. Earliest I have is 3/1/06. | ||||

This probably belongs to Goober rather than me, since I think he worked on the ignore code last. Not sure if this is strictly a multi issue or not, but that may be the best/only place to see it happen. |
Bah. This is a direct result of fixing the ignore code, but it was only the hackiness of the ignore code in the first place that originally caused this behavior. Ugh. Is this really needed? |
@Goober5000 Hm, i'm not sure i understand your question. If perhaps you are asking whether the ignore code itself is needed... then i would say 'yes'. There are certain scenarios where the AI wingmen refuse to obey orders until / unless they are first told to ignore a given target. |
I meant is it necessary to have ships remember ignore orders after they respawn. They don't remember any other orders to my knowledge. |
Oops, my mistake. Thanks for the clarification. In that case, i would say no. It does make life easier for the player, to not have to repeat that order after the wingmen respawn... yet, if no other orders are retained, then why should ignoring be different? In that light, this issue doesn't resemble a bug at all; it's more like a removed perk. |

Okay, I just need to hear from Xanadu then. BTW, is this the same Xanadu that used to run the FreeSpace mission archives? edited on: 06-26-06 00:21 |

*bump* If I don't hear otherwise from Xanadu, I'm closing this. |
