Hmm, it's working fine for me. Is any other effects or anything not showing up or is it just the thruster glows?

EDIT:
Also, are you using the MediaVPs?

Are they installed in the same folder as the rest of the main game VPs?

Is there a difference if you don't use any special cmdline options (except maybe for -jpgtga or -img2dds)?

Yes, I use media VPs 3.6.8 zeta and they are in main FS2 folder. If I dont use Enable jpgtga textures, it works good so its because of this flag. I posted debug fs.log here.

What about using -img2dds, does it work then?

And you really need to use mod directories. All of those mods in the main directory is liable to mess things up for you.

Here, try with these:

I had the same problem while doing battle with some effects and their alphamaps - I don't remember exactly _what_ was wrong with the thruster glows we were using, but most likely we were using the wrong effects. :)

Those are nice thruster glows, VA! I'm liking the Shivan ones especially. But you forgot one, thrusterglow01...

And so that I'm at least somewhat on topic: Shotman, maybe try moving all the mod vps temporarily into a folder and see if the main game with just mediavps works. It's a long shot but it's good to narrow things down.

Crap - silly me. Re-uploaded.

The Vasudan ones are the same as the media VPs - just in uncompressed DDS format. The rest was me experimenting with PSP - glad you like'em. :)

They look good to me, I'm switching. :) Though I did convert them to DXT1. The quality loss isn't that bad, certainly not bad enough to have to deal with the 6-times increase in memory usage the originals take.

But back on this bug, has anyone else had the same problem? No matter what I can't recreate it so I can only assume that it's not a general code issue. Echoing Backslash's suggestion, please be sure that you are only using the MediaVPs when testing this and that there aren't any loose files in data/effects or data/maps. At one time there were thruster effects that were broken (ie, had a bad alpha channel) and would be invisible in game. D3D could very well handle those images differently than OpenGL does. If you somehow are getting those in use then that could be the problem.

I formatted my hard disk and reinstalled windows and fs, it works good now with 3.6.8zeta vps and 3.6.9 rc3 build. I have new catalyst 6.6 driver. Looks like the bug is fixed for me. thanx for help
