| Summary | 0000933: Textures Missing and Geo Anomalies In FS | ||||
| Description | First of all, let me clarify that this is not related to non-power-of-2 DDS files, n'or missing -jpgtga. FS seems to be corrupting the display of models in-game. Textures or sometimes parts of textures seem to be missing, and on rare occasions I can even make out the displayed geometry having portions of it stretched outside the hull. This typically doesn't occur on the first mission played, but I have seen it happen. The longer you play, the more anomalies you'll encounter. I think its more tied to the gemometry rather than to textures, as I have seen portions of a model go missing, but portions that are still visible use the same textures as the missing sections. However, as soon as you shut down the program and restart, the models will be back to normal. Also, its not always the same models that become corrupt. Sometimes the LOD0 will be complete, but the targetting window will show that LOD1 is missing portions. Other times its the other way around. | ||||
| Additional Information | The file I've included is from TBP testing and has 2 T'Loth class and a G'Quan attacking a Centauri base. As you can see, most of the T'Loths are completely invisible, but in the same pattern. | ||||

What build did this start with? |
First time I saw something like this (textures stretched beyond ship) while testing the env and alpha env for OpenGL but i was unable to recreate the strecthing event reliably (that was with ATI 9600 pro) as i was overcome with other graphical probs (missing textures, very odd backgrounds, and HUD issues)... All of my problems were 'fixed' with disabling env mapping or playing only single missions (the first missions always worked like a dream) when env mapping was enabled with my old ATI card. Since then i have swapped my graphics card so its unlikely that i'll be able to recreate it again. Examples: Mentu: http://koti.mbnet.fi/vekkup/FS2/Pics/screen0204.jpg Scenery: http://koti.mbnet.fi/vekkup/FS2/Pics/screen0203.jpg So Triv... does this happen all the time or only when env mapping is enabled? |

I have radeon9600pro too and experience the same bugs like Trivial, but only with envmapping enabled, so it is something with it. I have 3.6.8. Zeta, here are my flags: D:\Hry\Freespace2\fs2_open_r_KARA_20060517.exe -mod TBP -spec -glow -jpgtga -mipmap -2d_poof -missile_lighting -dualscanlines -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -3dwarp -warp_flash -snd_preload -env -alpha_env -fps -fov 0.50 -ambient_factor 75 -no_warn The problem is also on T20060513 and C05212005. I use catalyst newest 6.5 and openGL. Posted debug fs.log. I experienced unknown crash when running this debug, too. Cannot post screenshots of bugs because of this bug: http://lore.maxgaming.net/~scp/mantis/bug_view_advanced_page.php?bug_id=0000252. I noticed that sometimes the environment maps are ugly and pixelated, this can be fixed too. Good luck. PS: my ICQ is 298-084-947 upravené: 06-08-06 12:21 |

I got a new build with that screenshot bug fixed so here are screens of my bugs. The build is called fs2_open_r.exe and i found it on HL forums here you should read it: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,40126.0.html they are talking about this bug. upravené: 06-09-06 16:51 |

I've done some further testing with this. I can't seem to nail down exactly which build started this, but it seems as though Kara's May 31st may be immune to it. However, Taylor, your latest 06/11 build is still displaying this error. On the bright side, I haven't encountered the background corruption problem while using this. |
Is this still a problem if you use -disable_fbo with RC3? |
Is this stuff still and issue when using this (http://icculus.org/~taylor/fso/testing/multi_test.rar) build? |
* BUMP * Please try with a newer build and the -disable_fbo cmdline option. |
* BUMP * Last bump before this is closed. |
Yeah I think noone have this problem with newer builds, u should close it, if someone have this issue just reopen it |
Don't want to consider this fixed, since I'm not remotely sure what the problem was, but I guess it's working with updated code. Closing until it becomes an issue again. Closered. |
