| Summary | 0000860: No Player Craft in Red Alert Mission if there was no previous mission in the campaing | ||||
| Description | In campaigns which should start with a Red Alert mission for any reason there is no player's ship (it is not visible when switiching to external camera). You can't move, you can't fire, you can't acclerate - 3d Radar is oddly now located in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Camera changes (like chase view and target view) do work. If the "Red Alert mission"-flag (RA-flag) is removed with FRED everything returns to normal. Following missions seem to be afected too even if on the previous mission the RA-flag was removed... | ||||
| Additional Information | Builds I used and had this problems were 3.6.5 (no date given probably a release build), CVS Builds from 12.29.2005 and 2.28.2006. I only got FSSCP for playing The Babylon Project mod(Got all current files of the mod; no media vps or any other unnecessary attachments other than some campaing vps). I don't know if it is a The Babylon Project specific bug but I only encoutered it when playing TBP (I don't play any other FSSCP mods so I can't tell really)... | ||||

Why are you starting a campaign with a red alert mission anyway? Just to get the different briefing screen? |
yes, because the red alert brefing screen is better for the introduction of a mission which is nothing more than an in-game-graphics cutscene... and since no-briefing causes different problems (which are not as severe as this one - and do not affect what I'm doing) MAG does that too but he has not told me why yet BTW: http://babcom.henna-boy.co.uk/bugscreen.jpg an image of the problem; others will follow ASAP edited on: 04-05-06 08:03 |

hmm.. try creating a new pilot and restarting the campaign. I don't think that's going to work anyway since Red Alert missions are used to carry over the status of the previous missions, such as loadout and hitpoints. And since there is no previous mission, then there could be some problems when assigning these values. edited on: 04-13-06 12:45 |

It might be possible to simply have it bash in the default data from the mission file in these cases though. Is this still an issue 0rph3u5? |

Pretty sure that this problem is related to bugs 0001042 and 0001043. If so then this should be fixed shortly. |
Not related to 0001043, but it is related to (at least in part) 0001042. It's not really a duplicate though so I don't want to consider it as such, even if the initial fix is the same. The limited tested I did has this working fine now but if it isn't fixed in the next build then reopen and I'll take another look. |
