Summary0000785: Can play only one mission during each session
DescriptionI'm currently playing through the Derelict campaign but I'm having crashes after every mission. I can play one mission, but then when I progress to the next the game crashes at random times in the next mission. It will then just sit there and do nothing. This also happens when failing a mission and having to replay it. I'm not sure if this is related to Derelict, or SCP in general because I haven't tried playing other missions.
Additional InformationI'm using latest CVS build on my Slackware 10.2 - Linux 2.6.15 machine. I have the 3.6.8 Media VP's installed and I'm using them.

Have same problem with Mac version.

Have FS2_Open Version 3.6.7. + OpenAL 1.0 + mv_zpack

1 GhzPowerbook G4. (512 MB Ram)
OSX 10.3.9.
ATI 64Mb.

History>>
Got file from MacGamefiles and first the game didn't launch. Then I downloaded OpenAL 1.0 ... and the game at least started. Then it seemed to crash all the time and had missing items, so I got mv_zpack installed.

Now the problem is that the game crashes after a mission is completed. Seemed to be something to do with the audio ... During the game the sound would stutter and then drop out for a second and then the screen would go fuzzy. Or that's what the crashreporter log file pointed to:

Thread 3 Crashed:
...
...
9 ??? 0x6f9de87c _ZN9OALSource8DoRenderEP15AudioBufferList + 0x174
10 ??? 0x6f9de338 _ZN9OALSource15SourceInputProcEPvPmPK14AudioTimeStampmmP15AudioBufferList + 0x48
...
...

So I added the line "-nosound" to the cmdline_fso.cfg file and with the audio off the crashes stopped1. The problem is that the game is not that good without audio. Is there a fix to this?

Have uploaded my log file to aid diagnosis.

I'm having the same problem.

IBM Thinkcentre
3.19 Ghz P4 (with HyperThreading)
512 ram
Win XP (SP2)
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 (128 video ram, agp slot)

March 1, 2006 build
3.6.8 Delta VPs
Voice-acted Derelict Campain (with SCP patch)

C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_r-P420060301.exe -mod Derelict -spec -glow -mipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -dualscanlines -orbradar -3dwarp -warp_flash -env -alpha_env

D3D8 mode 1024x768x32
A3D sound

occationally it crashes at "commit", but most of the time it's a CTD some random time in the mission.

never happens outside of Derelict campain.

just a sidenote, but i think that hobbitskill might be having a different problem than the original bug report, as they say nothing about Derelict and the fuzzy screen thing doesn't happen to me.

@hobbitskill: Try the newest OS X version and see if it makes a difference. You can find it in the HLP Recent Builds forum, and you will need the newer MediaVPs (delta/gamma) for it to work.

@Turey: Not the same problem. There are several existing bugs that it could fall under though. First off, switch to OpenGL unless it just doesn't work for you. Second thing, don't use -env or -alpha_env, envmapping is currently broken in D3D mode and doesn't work at all in OpenGL yet.

*bump*

Is this still a problem?

Closing for lack of feedback. Works for me(TM).
