Screenshots? What missions specifically? |

Taylor, I know that you are trying to prevent time loss for non-bugs, but stop, please, thinking, that I'm stupid. This bug is not connected to initially transparent objects and it is not a mission or MOD scripted event. It can happen in any mission with large number of objects (especually with debris or asteroid fields) |

At no point have I said that you are stupid, or even hinted at it as far as I know. A bug report that is only: "In missions with large asteroid or debris fields some ships become trasparent for other ships and weapons." is basically usless. In order to help we need information that allows us to help... I think there are only two missions in the retail campaign that have asteroid fields and both work fine for me. There is obviously a particular mission, or a series of missions that demonstrate the problem, we need to know what they are. If it is one of the retail missions then say so and which one. A screenshot could give a clue of some texture bug if there is a visual difference for the problem. Run a debug build and note any apparent errors or warnings. Post the fs.log file so that we can see the debug messages. Collisions have no limit but the amount of memory you computer has and if it runs out of memory it does so silently and only uses the number of collision pairs currently allocated. If it's a memory issue (a leak or something) then playing just that mission should not demonstrate the same problem. The debug log can provide valuable information to help figure out the problem. Say what build and cmdline options you are using. edited on: 01-19-06 08:59 |

Unfortunatelly, this not so easy. This bug happens occasionally, not always. It can happen in any mission - I can create a mission with very large number of ships and in result some of them can become transparent (physically), but not necesserily. No texture or other visual distortion present. They just become ghosts for ships and weapons. |

Check and see if this is still a problem with Goober's 20060220 build. Several bugs which could have caused this were fixed rencently. |

Closing this as Not-A-Bug/Duplicate. |
