Summary0000704: Too much memory used
DescriptionMedia VP eats very much memory (~ 1 GB). Is it supposed to do so, or maybe you accidently double some data or forget to free
unused memory?

They use that much memory because they really are that big. If too much memory is being used you need to either turn down some detail settings, or take out some mediaVPs.

I have noticed that memory usage is increasing dramatically with growing number of ships on the mission, even if those ships are of the same class. Are you loading textures for each ship separatelly, even if that is not needed?

* BUMP *

Is this still an issue? Are you using D3D or OpenGL?

I have 1 GB now and can't really say. Some small swapping on missions with large number of ships, but I can't say if this is bug or not

Possibly related: On my Win98SE system with 640MB RAM, and using a self-assembled 230MB VP (made from mv_core, _models, and _textures, plus other files), FS_Open usually allocates 200-230MB of RAM to itself during a mission. If the game is paused then unpaused, that allocation drops to 150MB or so. No swapfile is used at any time. Is this behaviour by design?

Crusader: Please make a separate bug report. taylor may have an idea of what's causing that, though. Make sure to include whether you're using D3D or OGL, and see if the problem occurs in the latest 3.6.9 RC, please. :)

thesource2: same.

Closing this, as DaBrain is testing the next set of VPs.

Oops, that wasn't the 'close' button.
