Summary0000685: Cannot start game, it crashes.
DescriptionThe game can be started with 3.6.5. executables, but crashes during the first mission. So I upgraded to latest media and took latest CVS excutables dated 29.12.2005 by WMCoolmon.

The game won't even start with that executables (nor any other recent ones). The screen blanks, and then windows is restored. In error.log there is message of access violation.

I found 3.6.7. version with debug version also. Please see the attachment "errors_367.zip" for fs.log and error.log.

Same result with this executable: Game won't even start.

Have you tried running in OpenGL mode from the launcher?

And what cmdline options are you using?

-I cannot use OpenGL as my graphics card supports only OpenGL version 1.1 and the required version would be 1.2

-I have tried almost all of the cmdline options available in the launcher. It won't start even with minimum resolution, minimum detail and no other option. It won't run in windowed mode (crashes "error log being created").

In all cases (except version 3.6.5) the game cannot produce even the first graphics, the screen mode is changed to chosen one, it goes black and then it quits without any message.

Ah, didn't see that you were using a Matrox card. Matrox doesn't make gaming cards anymore so the G550 really isn't designed for games, much less FS2_Open which is in love with memory. I swear by Matrox cards for 2D but you'll really have to change hardware to be able to run FS2_Open properly.

So I have no other option than buy a new graphics card if I want to play FS2_open? Pity.

In that case I guess we can close this ticket and conclude that fs2_open does not suppot Matrox?

Unfortunately that's really the only option. I think that it would support some Matrox cards, such as the Parhelia series, but the G-series is just for 2D graphics and any 3D support is mostly done in software which is something that we don't/can't support.
