Summary0000656: Training mission bugs and one other
DescriptionAlthough the training missions are not really significant compared to the actual missions, here are a few things that I have noticed.
1. The Amazon drones fire upon me during all of the training missions when they are on the move. As I remember from the retail version, these drones are supposed to be unarmed, yet they manage to fire upon me regardless. (FIXED!)

2. During the training mission where I use the Herc II for the first time, the Argos, which have been destroyed by my reinforcements, do not produce shockwaves when they explode.

3. When learning about countermeasures, the Leviathan has a hard time locking on to me, even when I am motionless and moderately close to the missile launcher. I can see that the turret is facing me, but it will not launch any missiles for me to evade, even when I begin moving.

4. Not a big problem at all, but from what I recall during the retail training missions, the Myrmidon will be equipped with two Subachs during the missions and throughout the game until the Prometheus R is introduced (even if this is not true, the point is that two cannons will be automatically equipped on this fighter at all times). However, it is only equipped with one cannon. Missions where I have no choice of my loadout, including training missions, do not give me the extra fire power that I used to possess. During the very first training mission, the instructor will tell me to push a button to allow the cannons to be fired in double-fire mode, yet there is no other cannon for me to do so. (FIXED!)

5. This is the only other bug that I have noticed that was not related to training missions. The Iceni, after the mission where it is first introduced in the game, will lose part of its texture and will be replaced by either a transparent or white skin. I had to restart the game in order for this error to disappear, and I haven't seen it since. I do not know if it is going to show up again.
Additional InformationI am currently running FSO with no MODs.

I want to make a comment about my first bug. The Amazons do become armed after a certain point in retail, after the instructor makes a comment "This drone is armed. It will fire upon you in 10 seconds..." The problem that I have is that before that point is even reached, the drones have already fired upon me from the start.

For 2 and 3, check the next build and see if they occur.

For future reference, you should create a bug entry for each bug.

Edit: Err, those shouldn't have been links. Nifty mantis feature tho.

Number 4 should already be fixed in newer builds.

I apologize for listing multiple bugs in one entry, and for not replying earlier. After installing the 01/16 build, I went through the missions once again. 4 is no longer a problem as stated; however, 2 and 3 are still present. Number 5 hasn't shown up, yet if I play the mission where the Iceni is revealed in the asteroid field and the following mission consecutively without quitting, I get that transparent texture issue. Does this have to do with my computer's RAM? I am uncertain about number 1, so I will check on that soon.

EDIT: Number 1 has been fixed.

I'll check the countermeasure training mission. Hopefully, its nothing too serious.

I believe that 5 should be fixed by now (numerous bmpman bugs have been fixed).

For 2, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't produce shockwaves in retail either. I did test to make sure and it didn't in retail for me. If it does for you in retail then let me know.

Yes, I haven't noticed number 5 at all in the new builds. For the Argo, it doesn't produce a shockwave in retail for me either, at least in the training mission. What concerned me was that the Argo does explode with a shockwave outside of the training missions, but it's good to know that it this issue was around since retail. As for the other bugs, I'll run a check later on today to make sure none have reappeared. I know number 4 is gone, but I am not sure about the others.

Number 1 has returned, and I have not gotten far enough to check on number 3.

Oops, sorry I've been away from my computer too long. Now that I have updated with the Zeta media vps and the RC2 build I have noticed that the Amazon drones still shoot at me in the first training mission... they also engage my instructor this time around. I will check on the others asap, and as soon as I get the RC3 build to see if anything has changed. Sorry for the huge delay.

EDIT: After checking up on all of the bugs that I have posted in the most recent build, here's what I have found...
1. The Amazons still fire when they are supposed to be unarmed, and even engage the instructor.
2. All of the Argos in the first training mission for the Herc II explode with no shockwaves even though they explode with shockwaves outside the training missions, an issue which has been around since retail.
3. The Leviathan is now able to lock and fire missiles at me.
4. Subach HL-7 issue was resolved a long time ago.
5. Ships that were experiencing texture problems between missions, namely the Iceni, no longer experience that problem. I think this one has been fixed for quite some time, as well.

* BUMP *

So, number 1 is the only issue still? It's marked as "FIXED!" in the description so I'm not totally sure what the real status is.

1. I don't have problems with amazons
2. Argo transports have no shockwaves in any mission and they aren't supposed to
3. Isn't it the point of training to avoid missiles launched by Leviathan?

Oops, sorry, argos have shockwaves, you are right. Are you sure it is a bug? May be training argos shouldn't have shovkwaves? Check the class of the transports in training. Perhaps they are not exactly argos or they may have special explosions set

Checked it myself. Strange, all seems to be normal. It is normal GTT Argo without special explosions. I assume it is training mission property to supress all shockwaves except bombs

No response from original reporter, but all issues appear to have been resolved. There were multiple bugs, and multiple people who fixed them, so I'll just mark this a resolved and not assign it anyone, I guess.

Fixered ... x5.
