| Summary | 0000560: Pop-up window delay | ||||
| Description | There is some kind of a delay introduced when the game displays a pop-up message window. For example, in the mainhall, if you select the exit game door or hit esc, the game temporarily freezes up for a few seconds and the "Exit game?" window comes up only after this delay. This happens with all pop-up windows of this type, such as the ingame "do you want to exit" window, the ingame "paused" window, the mission simulator's mission scanning window and so on. This only happens in D3D, not OGL. The delay period also seems to depend on the resolution, with longer delays in higher resolutions, but it's present even in 1024x768. The delay is almost five seconds in 2048x1536, which is pretty annoying. This has been there in at least the last few beta builds and it's still there in 3.6.7. | ||||

The popup code for D3D is going to get an overhaul since it's absolute crap. The problem is that we were having crashing issues and/or rendering issues and didn't want to hold up 3.6.7 any longer to sort through that. Now that 3.6.7 is out though we can work on that again and try to get all of those old issues worked out (D3D popup code has never worked properly). |

Hehehe. Should we close this and redirect to 476? |

Umm, yeah. 521 needs to go there too since it was an issue with the updated code and not what is in 3.6.7. |
