If I remember, that's exactly what it does in retail, too. This isn't related to beam-firing; that mission has just always been a little strange. |

I just played through this one myself. While all of the smaller ships are beam-freed along with the colossus, I never saw any allied fire directed at any of the Shivan cruisers (or any allied AAAf either, which may be more telling). However, this is the infamous "turn damnit" mission (i.e. the events indicate that pathing was difficult to do here) and because of the way capitals bank when they turn their final position is anything but optimal for defending the node and I don't think any of them actually had a clear shot from their beam turrets. It does, however, move (the two cruisers and the corvette take staggered runs at the node, get close, and turn around one at a time. The corvette is last so it's the last one to turn towards the node). On a related note, the Colossus didn't fire its beams at the Sathanas at the end of the mission either, which usually ends up happening while its in deathroll. The AI may be prioritizing targets incorrectly or something, but without proof that this isn't just poor placement in the mission I'm thinking this is a non-bug.
EDIT: Isn't that the mission that's hard-code-hacked so that the Ravana doesn't steer away from the Colossus when it arrives?

Yeah, the code is hacked for the Ravana in that mission. |

Closing this. If someone spots a noticeable difference from retail they can reopen it. |
