Summary0000408: Game crash on "Surrender, Belisarius"
DescriptionSo yeah, I finally broke down and bought a GeForce to play SCP...Anyways, onto the bug. At the end of the "Surrender, Belisarius!" mission, when the GVD Psamtik calls in the relief wing, the game will CTD. This happens every time, with no way of avoiding it it seems.
Additional InformationProcessor: 666mhz P3
RAM: 192MB
Video Card: 64MB GeForce 4 MX 4000 PCI card

Playing in 1024 x 768 x 16 mode, have specular lighting, glowmaps, enable jpg/tga textures, cell shading, stop fog intersecting hull, smart shields, 3D warp, TBP warp effect, 3D shield, show FPS, show info by target, and use models in ship turned onselection...Also, it seems that in that mission, only the transport ships in Iota wing were cell shaded...everything else looked normal...what gives? (Using build vers. 4-25-2005 if that matters)

Do you have any more info than that T1g4h? That's just a warning so it's not the problem that is causing the crash.

Try a newer build and see if it's any better. That 20050425 build seemed to have quite a few crash related issues. Try the build listed here: http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32771

If it still crashes with the new build then please look in your freespace2 folder and attach a file called errorlog.txt to this bug report.

Any further info T1g4h? I haven't been able to recreate this and no one else has reported it so it was a build thing or more system releated. If you can still make it happen with a newer build then remove all MediaVPs and cmdline options and see if it still happens. If it doesn't then add back the MediaVPs and try again. If it still doesn't crash then add back the cmdline options 1 or 2 at the time until it crashes and report back here which one(s) is making it crash.

Ah, whoops, forgot about this...sorry 'bout that guys...Actually, I was forced to uninstall FS2 and SCP a few months ago to conserve drive space, so unfortunately, I can't really test it any more. But, it seemed like no matter what cmd lines I used, it still crashed. Even without any cmd line extras, it still CTD'd at the exact same point in the mission.

Hmm, ok. I haven't been able to recreate this through any amount of fiddling and no one else has reported it so far. I'm going to go ahead and close this bug but if the next time you get the opportunity to test it out with a new build it still crashes then please reopen.
