Summary0000314: Crashes at specific points in missions
DescriptionI've only just started using FS2 Open, and I've run into a few bugs on the first two (non-training) missions. In the first mission the game will invariably freeze when the Belesarius is destroyed by the Psamtik's beam weapons. In the second mission it will always freeze shortly after Admiral Bosch starts talking and the new wave of fighters warps in. If there are any other freezes like this in other missions, I don't know of them becuase I've not been able to advance beyond the first two becuase of the other glitches.

I'm currently using version 3.6.5, but I had these same problems with 3.6. Both times I used the zpack vp files instead of the individual downloads, so that could be part of the problem (if it's not some problem on my end of the system and not a fault of FSO, that is). All times, I've run the game in D3D mode with DX9 on Windows XP pro.

As I said I'm quite new at this, so thanks for bearing with me and my lack of knowledge.

Could you help us out by posting the following info about your computer?

CPU (Processor)
RAM
Graphical Card
Version of drivers for the card
Soundcard
Version of drivers for the card

And then please copy and paste the commandline you're using. (In the launcherm where you select all the stuff like -spec and -glow, there is a block of text with all the options you've enabled, copy&paste that.)

Hmm. I couldn't help but notice how similar my situation is to this:
http://mgo.maxgaming.net/mantis/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000257

It's a shame I didn't notice it before I posted mine, because "hanging" is a more accurate description of what happens to me as opposed to a crash, and I happen to get the same type of sound-loop when it hangs.

Anyways, here's my specs:

Windows XP Pro (Service Pack 2)
Pentium 4 CPU 1200MHz
1.29GHz, 512 MB of RAM

Unfortunately, I don't know where info about the graphics card or soundcard is stored (if anywhere at all), so I suppose I'm out of luck in that respect. Besides, my problem seems to be the same as the guy in the above link, so it sounds like this isn't a problem of FSO but rather on my end of things.

And I forgot to mention that these problems happen regardless of what command line I use, which seems to be further evidence of it just being something about my system instead of FSO itself.

Please go start, run, and type dxdiag. That'll get you all sorts of info on your graphics and sound cards.

Thanks. Here's what I got...

Graphics card:

Chip type: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro
DAC Type: Intergrated RAMDAC
Appx. Total Memory: 32.0 MP
Version: 6.14.0010.4523 (English)

Sound card:

Name: Intel Integrated Audio
Device ID: PCI/VEN_8086DEV_2445SUBSYS_47328086REV_O
Version: 5.10.0000.3523 (English)

I left out irrelevant info of course, so tell me if I didn't include something important.

I'm afraid that graphics card isn't actually supported by the SCP anymore. It's a miracle you're even able to run the SCP at all. You can try disabling HTL, but that isn't acutally supported either. Without a new graphics card, I'm not sure we can help you.

I'm closing this bug, since the card is no longer supported. Sorry.
