Which nightly are you using? Can you also check if the issue occurs with 3.7.0? Thanks |
I'm using this build http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=86479.0 I'll try with the 3.7.0. |
Sounds like the weapons selector uses a special font glyph that doesn't appear (or has the wrong index) in the French font. |

Same issue with 3.7.0 final build. |

Are you using the French Language version of retail Freespace2, or the retail English language version set the French? Unfortunately the later configuration is never going to work correctly due to the font files being different between the two. But if you do have the French retail version, then posting the info requested in this thread should help us track down the problem. http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=85492.0 |

I have the french version but not sure if I messed up my Freespace 2 installation. I need to reinstall it in another computer and see if I got the issue or not and send you the appropriate files needed. |
Done. If you need a specific file after analyzing the VPLoggerOutput.txt tell me. |

MetalDestroyer's copy of FS2 virtually identical to the English version (and apparently all French copies are), so the font file's special characters start at 127, just like the English version. To fix this, you need to get the German font file (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/89353583/FreeSpace/Fonts/German_fs2.zip) and place it in your data\fonts folder (create it if it doesn't exist). You will have to remove it if you want to play in English, though. |
So Yarn, does this mean that it is necessary to add the font file to fix the character problem? If so, can we close this ticket as not-a-SCP-bug? |
Yes, you do need a font file to fix this for German and French since, for those languages, the game expects the special characters to be located in a different part of the font. (For French, though, I recommend the fonts from the French version of FS1 [https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/89353583/FreeSpace/Fonts/French_fs1.zip] since it contains additional characters that are not in the German font.) |
Okay. Closing as not fixable, since it's a data problem rather than a code problem. |
