Summary0000294: Engine sounds not looping
DescriptionUsing OGGs as the source of sound makes engine sounds to not loop. OGGs are played for two seconds, cuts for a second and the process repeats. Haven't been able to test this without TBP files.

Sound card used: Sound Blaster Augigy 2 ZS (with 444 drivers)

This was on 3.6.5 build. I guess other builds do not support OGGs.

Darkblade, try the 20041230 build and if that doesn't work we probably need to see the sounds.tbl and sample OGGs that aren't working. Also check for the other OGG bug (hit sounds) too please.

20041230 build still has both problems, at least on my setup. I'm attaching the two hitsounds and the StarFury engine sound to this thread.

Noticed that not even the mainhall ambience sound is not looping.

There seems to be something wrong with those ogg files. main_amb does play and loop for me but the encoding is messed up. ship_p and s_hit_4 (both of them) are much worse as far as errors go. Try to re-encode the sounds again and see if that helps. Something like WinAmp may be a little more tolerant of errors so do the OGGs play correctly with it?

Mr. Fury re-encoded the files which helped to the looping problem. Now there is only the isssue with hitsounds to deal with.

I'm closing this since this seems a user error. Perhaps re-open it if a bugcheck on the OGG's is in order.
