Summary0002686: "Player [Name] must choose a spot for player wing." On "Bearbaiting" mission.
DescriptionOn the "Bearbaiting" mission briefing screen, attempting to hit "confirm" now pops up a window demanding that "Player Dinkle must choose a spot for player wing." It won't let me start the mission. I tried to use the "skipmemymissionyo" cheat to go back to "A Flaming Sword" so that *maybe* I could reset the whole scenario, but now it just wiped my whole game. Cryface. Is there any way to rewrite pilot info so that I can go back to that mission? I am so hooked right now and I need to finish this game!
Steps To ReproduceOk so I'm not quite sure how it got this way but here's the story. So this is my first playthrough of Freespace 2. I got to the "Bearbaiting" mission and ran it for a few times (losing each time) then I called it quits for the night. This morning I booted up the launcher, and decided to take a look at the descriptions of some mods before I tried the mission again. I then booted up my game and started my mission. It gave me an error and said I was missing ship models. *Duh* I forgot to take the mod off (STL mod). I fixed it in the launcher and re-launched the game. When I tried to start "Bearbaiting" it gave me the "Player Dinkle must choose a spot for player wing." popup when I hit "confirm" in the mission briefing screen. I can't start the mission!

Your problem is the result of an unfortunate set of circumstances. By loading the game with a different mod selected, you hosted your campaign progress for the FreeSpace2 main campaign. Then when you tried to go back to the campaign, the engine choked on your current loadout setting. And the 'skipmemymissionyo' cheat is broken as described in a separate bug ticket.

There are only two solutions right now: either replay the campaign from the beginning, or get someone on HLP to create a new campaign file for you that starts the campaign at the necessary mission.

Long-term, this problem will become obsolete with the introduction of the new pilot code in 3.7.
