| Description | Caused when using a Sexp to issue AI chase order to chase/attack ships with the "Stealth" flag in the table entry. Fred works ok and FS2 does until or soon after the Sexp triggers which causes CTD. Attached is the mod I was working on at the time, including ship, maps, table and mission which causes/demonstrates the issue. See additional information for debug log. | ||||

I can reproduce this crash consistently by loading the *stock* mission "Proving Grounds" and firing EMP missiles (GTM-14 EMP Adv.) at the "Oberon" (to make the blast wave hit most of the stealth ships consistently, since they are attacking the Oberon). Firing EMPs confuses the attackers targeting and causes the crash *very* consistently. Well, I just compiled a recent trunk build (r8450) and played Proving Grounds four times on debug. I fired a crapton of EMP missiles at the Oberon, the stealth fighters, and my wingmen. Not once was the Assert triggered. EDIT: Be aware that 3.6.14 has its own branch, so saying "3.6.14 trunk" is a bit of a misnomer. Do you actually mean the trunk codebase? |

Strange. I can get it to happen so much that I haven't been able to even finish that mission without something crashing... (3.6.12 runs like a dream though). I'll do some more testing. Thanks for trying to confirm it. Oh and I did mean the 8436 SVN in this case. Sorry about the lack of clarity. I'll build the more recent revision and see if it still happens. |

Well, that's interesting. Now that I'm using revision 8466 (built today), try as I might, I can't get anything to crash on that mission either! It appears that either we've both been extremely lucky, or something else that was changed in the last few revs has fixed it. |
