Product Version | 3.6.12
Summary | 0002465: Alpha wing disappears after player dies and restarts
Description | I'm having a weird problem with a mission I'm making for Wing Commander: Hostile Frontier. The player's wing is Echo wing. It consists of me (the player) and a wingman. We are both flying Hornets. (That's 2 Hornets) Also present at the start of the mission is Alpha and Charlie wings. Alpha wing consists of 3 Hornets, and Charlie wing consists of 2 Rapiers. If I die in this mission, whether I suicide or I get killed by enemies, Alpha wing mysteriously disappears after I restart the mission. Here is the debug log: http://wchf.hard-light.net/team/Talon/fs2_open_1.log
Additional Information | Occurs on 3.6.12 final but also the nightly builds. In an earlier version of this mission, restarting the mission after dying caused me and my wingman to mysteriously disappear instead of Alpha wing. This particular problem was solved when I disbanded Echo wing, reformed it, and set it up for the mission again, but after I did that, the problem with Alpha wing started occurring...

I don't suppose you're able to reproduce this problem with retail assets? Regardless, please post the wing names part of the mission file. The part that looks like this: $Starting wing names: ( "Sigma" "Beta" "Gamma" ) $Squadron wing names: ( "Rho" "Sigma" "Tau" "Upsilon" "Epsilon" ) $Team-versus-team wing names: ( "Sigma" "Zeta" ) |
|
Here you go: $Starting wing names: ( "Echo" "Bravo" "Alpha" ) $Squadron wing names: ( "Echo" "Bravo" "Alpha" "Charlie" "Delta" ) $Team-versus-team wing names: ( "Echo" "Delta" ) I have also uploaded the mission in question for coders who are interested in looking at it. I really don't know exactly what I did to make the problem occur... And as far as I know, none of the WCHF custom assets cause debug errors. Maybe it is reproducible with retail assets. BTW The assets can be downloaded from here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=77631.0 |

Bravo wing doesn't seem to be defined anywhere in the mission. Can you try removing it from $Starting wing names and $Squadron wing names? |

I believe this is the same issue as mantis 0002370 - I've tested that fix with this sample mission and Alpha wing now appears on mission restart. |
