| Description | I stumbled across this by accident. I had been designing a background for a mission, and had made a great number of nebulae, a few suns and planets, etc etc. I saved the mission, forgetting to close the background editor. Immediately, all my backgrounds disappeared, and my starfield was set back to the normal one, yet all the nebulae etc still showed up in the background editor window. Confused, I closed the editor. No change. When I opened it up again, every window was blank. :( This is reproducable every time. Just place a few background items, and without closing the background editor, save your mission. Your background will disappear. | ||||

This is similar to how most of the editor windows work in FRED. Best solution is probably similar to the event editor window where it warns you and asks you to commit the event editor stuff first. |

The BG editor is worse since at least with the campaign editor it doesn't save your changes but it keeps them there. With the backgrounds, your changes literally disappear before your eyes, and there's no way to get them back once you've hit the save button. |

Interestingly enough, this only seems to happen when the background was empty before the save button was hit. If you have existing nebulae or suns placed and saved, even if you save without closing the BG editor, your changes remain. |
