| Summary | 0002350: Engine sound does not change when selecting another ship in Loadout. | ||||
| Description | If your wingmen have a ship with a certain engine sound set in the mission as the default, and you change their ship to a different class with a different engine sound, the default ship's sound is still given to those ships. An example is changing your wingmen's ships to or from the SF Mara (Terrans). If this is the default ship for your wingmen, then the ship you change it to will still have the Shivan engine sound. If their default ship is not the SF Mara (Terrans), and you change it to this ship, the ship will NOT have the Shivan engine sound, instead keeping the sound of the original ship. Even if the ship is of a different species (for example, the GVF Ptah) the default ship's sound is still retained. I've attached a sample mission to demonstrate this bug. An easy way to reproduce the bug is to swap Alpha and Beta's ships around. If you do this, Beta wing's Ulysses' will have the Shivan fighter engine sound, while Alpha wing's Maras will have the sound the Ulysses should use. Although any ships with different sounds will work, it is most noticeable when the SF Mara (Terrans) is switched - indeed, this is how I discovered the problem*. | ||||
| Additional Information | *I believe that as very few missions give the option of using the SF Mara (Terrans) when you have a choice of other ships, this problem may have gone on unnoticed for at least this length of time (one of the few examples is Second Great War Part 2, mission 4), as Shivan engine sounds are more easily identifiable as different than Terran/Vasudan ones. As retail will not run on my computer as it reports that my computer has 0MB of memory, I cannot confirm myself if it has been present since retail. I actually reported this problem a year or two ago, but I neglected to Mantis the problem. I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. | ||||

...correction, the example I gave as a campaign mission should be SGWP2 mission 5, not mission 4. Mission 4 DOES allow the SF Mara (Terrans), but you do not have a choice of different ships. In addition, this is with running Antipodes 7 r6775, as well as the 3.6.12 MediaVPs and the 3.6.13 patch. |
