| Description | What the summary says. It took me a day to nail down the issue, but I finally isolated the cause: I use the Mumble voice chat software for another game and apparently running it and then trying to start Freespace results in the game immediately crashing to desktop before even attempting the opening cutscene. The problem is fixable by simply not running the program, but considering that FS Open apparently interacts badly with a fairly popular game voice chat software, I thought the devs might want to know about the problem. | ||||

Please post a debug log. Also, please try a nightly build, as those have different sound code. |

Please try again, with an empty debug_filter.cfg in your data folder. Post the log that creates, please. |

I cannot reproduce this on linux. Can you try to disable the ingame overlay ? |

This is strictly a Mumble problem and is not limited to FSO. And I highly doubt that the SCP can manage any code changes that would prevent this from being an issue. As per Mumble advice, launch the game First, and then launch Mumble. |
