| Summary | 0002248: Freespace has decided not to accept input from my joystick | ||||
| Description | I have a Saitek X52 flight control system. It worked fine with the game yesterday. It has, in fact, worked fine with the game for over a year. It works fine with games that are not Freespace 2 today. According to Windows and the stick's own software, it is working just fine. But this evening, I turned on my computer, sat down to play Freespace 2 (specifically the Pandora's Box campaign, but subsequent testing has shown the problem is reproducible even with no mods) and discovered that as far as the game is concerned, my joystick might as well not exist. I did not change anything at all in my install. The game responds to the mouse and to keyboard commands, but will not take input from the joystick, throttle, or any buttons on either one (though it treats the mouse control stick on the throttle just like the mouse, so I know the stick itself is connected). What gives? | ||||
| Additional Information | None that I can find. The debugger gives me this: Trying to add a bitmap that does not exist in stars.tbl! <no module>! KiFastSystemCallRet <no module>! RegisterWaitForInputIdle + 73 bytes ... but I suspect that these are all to do with the Pandora's Box mod and not the joystick, since it was made for 3.6.10. I have attached what I think is the error log. | ||||

OK so you are still running the same FS2_Open build with the same launcher settings and only the one controller attached? If so then the first idea would be to create a new pilot and try again. |

Just did. No effect. |

Issue resolved, for now at least. Somehow the launcher had gotten itself set to "no joystick" even though I never touched any settings in that tab. Curious, but fixable. |
