Summary0002243: Skybox transparency glitches when viewed from a near straight angle.
DescriptionSkybox texture clips when the object is viewed from a top-down straight angle.

To illustrate, the planetary rings look fine when viewed from low angles: http://i45.tinypic.com/22yzk4.jpg

But when viewed from a straight up-down angle, the texture clips in an ugly way: http://i49.tinypic.com/2rhuy5y.jpg

The skybox model itself has nothing special that might cause the problem: http://i50.tinypic.com/28ahil4.jpg

Various command lines and model settings seem to have no effect, but moving the rings of the object so they cannot be seen from such a high angle can solve the issue.

Could you perchance attach a simple mission with the values (background wise) that causes the problem as well please?

I currently have only Diaspora installed so here's just the skybox model with relevant textures: www.tuomaskankola.com/temp/skybox_clipping_issue.rar

You can in fact see the same clipping happening in fred once you add the skybox, just rotate the view down to see the problem.

Turns out this issue was caused by a skybox that was scaled too small and the clipping happened due to that. All fixed now :)
