| Description | As reported on the forums, any build containing taylor's sound code does not produce sound for fraps on (at the very least) any older creative soundcards. It also does not produce any sound on my ALC889A (onboard sound) for some reason it fails to initialise openal. I have since bought a Xonar D2X, which produces sound with DS3D GX on, but not to fraps, fraps works with DS3D GX disabled. I did quite extensive hardware and software testing to try to get either of the previous soundcards to work on Taylor's builds but they just don't wanna care. | ||||

This seems to be the same for hardware mode with the current sound code. If I select "Generic Software", it records sound. If I select "SB Audigy [9C00]", it records a silent video. |

FRAPS doesn't work with OpenAL and there is nothing that can be done about that on our side. Only if the sound going through OpenAL happens to be routed through the windows sound system (ie, DirectSound), as is the general case with "Generic Software", will FRAPS be able to pick it up. That is not a bug in our code, old or new, it is simply how FRAPS works and nothing we can do will ever change that. |
