I have been getting briefing icon problems with all the OpenGL FRED2s; the last FRED2 with a working briefing editor was 3.55, but that is quite old and lacks many features from the newer ones. 3.55 unfortunately cannot load missions made with later versions, so the briefings can't just be made in that either. |

Just an update... There are two problems here: 1) The icons are not getting displayed because it thinks they are out of the view (negative Z-axis) and 2) They are translated incorrectly. So far one is fixed and some icons are displayed. All icons are rendered but may be out of view, not 100% sure why yet. When creating a new ship icon it shows at 0,0 on the screen and when you try to move it it only moves on the X or Y axis and translates out of view when you drop it. The mouse cursor moves correctly and the x,y,z coordinates are displayed and updated properly but the actual icon doesn't. The icon text behaves the same way, staying with the icon (where ever it goes), with only the generic "Briefing Icon" text left behind in the true screen position. |

I'm moving this one to you phreak since I think you fixed it already. At least the icons work for me now so that's either all you or your changes are working in concert with my previous attempts at a fix and taking care of it. |

a temporary fix would be to not use "-fredhtl" when doing briefings. The models are automatically forced to use a lower LOD so you don't have to worry about the hi-poly models crashing non-htl mode |

This bug is present in the new FRED build released by Redmenace on 2005/09/29. It is not present in the build released by PhReAk on 2005/08/28, which was the next most recent FRED release. |

I can conform that this Bug is still present in redmenace's CVS build as of 2005-10-16, as well as in the 2005-09-29 build. As reported by Trivial Psychic the, 2005-08-28 build is the last that does not suffer from this problem. |

alright, this should be fixed. Whoever changed around the briefing icons forgot to have fred load page in the briefing icons. |
