| Summary | 0002041: Ship disappears from chase view when speed is negative | ||||
| Description | I think it's chase view. The one where you fly the ship from behind like an arcade game. Anyway I was testing out flying a Shivan fighter and figured I'd see what it looked like from that view. As soon as I hit z and went below 0 speed the ship just disappeared. Tried zooming out to see if the ship was just moving behind where I could see. The ship does not fall back it just vanishes. Comes back as soon as you return to positive speed. Effects seem to stay just the model disappears. Attaching screen shots. First one is the ship from the view. Second is flying backwards in the same view. | ||||

Just a FYI the weird bars at the bottom of the screenshots seem to be caused by running in window mode and that part of the picture being off the screen. |
I can confirm this. This happens to me usually whenever a shockwave hits my fighter while in chase view. It looks really bad. The fighter just vanishes and suddenly pops into view again. |
The ship is still rendered.. it just doesn't happen to be in the view. |

Please try the next nightly (or other new) build r5827 or later and give feedback on the changes. |

Works fine from the default distance but if you change the view distance it kind of goes wacky. Instead of just slowing down off in the distance it zooms behind the viewpoint at really high speed. To reproduce hit * then either + or - (can't remember which one zooms in and out)so the ship is out away from you. Then hit z for reverse. Ship goes from off in the distance to behind you in a second or so. |

I made some changes to the code. Can you test again? |

Looks good to me. |
