Summary0001453: Game randomly crashes while running Direct X 8 version of FSO
DescriptionI been having crashes of this program recently with some modded campains. I also did move all of the mediavps files into the root dicoraniys of FSO. I don't know which is causing the problem. But running under Direct X 8 improved the gameplay speed alot! I don't want to go back to OpenGL again... it doesn't work smooth for my computer.

I put the mediavps files back into it's folder but no change.

Dang it, it's crashing only when using Direct X 8. It works fine under OpenGL. In DX8, It crashes at the loading screen. I'll lanch the debug tool to see what file loads last before it does it again. I also tried it using a diffrent resolution. The loading bar doesn't budge in 1024x768 but it loads all the way in 640x400 then crashes. The background turns completly white when the loading meter animates. Heh, the debies and astroid explodions didn't show correct ly either in The B5 project mod ethier...

Well if we ever hire a D3D coder then someone will take a look at this but unfortunately for you we don't have one and D3D is likely to be removed from the codebase by the end of the year.

I'd suggest you post on Hard Light Productions and try to figure out why your OpenGL performance is so slow instead.

Ok, but can you please tell Mantis what campaign you were playing. There have been known issues with retail modded campgaigns such as Blaise Russels Homesick.
