Summary0001408: Series of problems
DescriptionHi all,

I installed FS2 Open 3.6.9 using the retail game and Turey's installer, but everything I do seems to lead up to a crash. I've tried running it on Direct3D, and when I click on the ready room, I receive an error message (the first one in the attached file). During gameplay, none of the ship models appear, just their engine trails and occasionally external lights, and the game crashes when a subspace portal appears.

I tried using OpenGL, but I simply received an error message (second one in the attached file) and the game crashed without opening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, but if so, please point me in the right direction.

S3 cards aren't supported, sorry. They simply don't have the needed hardware capabilities for the engine for work. The only option is for you to upgrade your video card to something better (which may be rather difficult if it's integrated).

Ah, great... and it's integrated, so that's probably a lost cause.

I do have access to another computer with an nVidia GeForce 4- is that one compatible with Open?

Yes, anything better than GeForce2 should work just fine. It might not be the fastest thing in the world though.

We also support ATI cards (obviously) and newer Intel integrated cards.

Yeah, I see what you mean. It's painfully slow when loading, but the in-game speed is fine, so it's looking good. Thanks for your help.

Unsupported hardware, which isn't something that we can do anything about. Marking as such.
