Are you using a debug build or a release build? Debug builds don't have that restriction, and cheats are always enabled for such builds so using the activation code doesn't really do anything there. Release builds are the only ones that you have to activate cheats on, and then it will (or should) prevent you from progressing. |
I believe you can progress in retail when using cheats. The restriction was only in place in FS1. |

I used release. quote from the site: To use the debug keys while playing in the single-player mode of Freespace 2 you must enter www.freespace2.com. These debug keys work in both the demo and the full retail versions of FreeSpace 2. Using these debug keys will not allow you to advance to the next mission. All keys must be pressed at the same time. |
can you try using retail and see if there is a difference? |

Hmm, looking at the code, it appears that it doesn't stop you from advancing regardless of the build used. And that's not a SCP change either, it's that way in the original source release. If retail FS2 did this then it's a Volition change (which is scary, since it means the source code we have isn't straight retail). |

Everything I've read said that on FS1 prevented progress when using the cheats. FS2 never did. |
Since the FreeSpace 2 site claims that it will prevent your campaign to progress, it might be a retail bug. |
i'd rather mark this one "working as intended" :) |
Might just be a doc/website bug then. ;) I say this just gets marked as "won't fix", and we leave it at that. I suppose we could make it optional, so that it could be modder's choice (an ai_profiles.tbl option for instance). That's really something that a mod should officially request though. It's not something for Mantis. |

It's a documentation bug, if it's anything. You couldn't advance in retail FS1, but you could in retail FS2. This isn't the first time a game has become more lenient in a sequel; the same thing happened in TIE Fighter, the sequel to X-Wing. Closing as not-a-bug. |
