Summary0001309: AI problems (not retail ones)
DescriptionAll right, I spent some time playing retail fs2. And found the following:
1. When big ship is destroyed pilots fly away from it. In your builts explosion does not concern them. Even worse - they continue to fly toward the ship and fire.
2. When pilot launches bomb it turns to try evade shockwave if he is too close to the target. In your builts he just crashes into ship along with the bomb.

So despite you yell at anyone who touches AI code someone touched it. Sorry, but it is your responsibility to fix this now.
I use 0227 built but it happens in earlier builts also.

This could be a serious problem if it's true. We want to keep retail compatibility, but something like this would mess up missions that were designed for and tested with FSO. Can anyone else confirm this?

Try a build from a long time ago, maybe 3.6.7, and see if it still occurs.

A table flag or something to that effect may be the best way to resolve this, so that both types of behavior are possible.

Tested more and found something else:
1. Ships don't escape big ship explosion only if they are not ordered to attack this ship. Otherwise they will fly away, but...
2. ...only if they don't have launched and not destroyed projectiles. Otherwise they will continue attacking the ship.
3. Bomber will only evade his own bomb if there is no other pilots too close to him.
4. I might be wrong but it seems that all of this happen only in fsport. Without any mods wingmen behave much smarter. So it might be fsport tbl problem.

This still an issue?

Played recently latest fsport with FS2Open 3.6.12. It seems that these issues have been fixed. At least I didn't notice serious problems in wingmen behaviour.

Closing this one then.
