Summary0001272: Strange slowdowns: in mission loading or severe memory usage?
DescriptionBuilt 20061130-redmenace. Extreme slowdown in first mission when Belisarius explodes. I use latest mvp. I'm not sure if it is loading of special effect or just high memory usage (unnecessary of course)

Hmmm. No, not exactly. Seems to be fixed for most ships. Cruisers, corvettes, jaggernauts explode smoothly. But Orions cause slowdown

Are you using mv_adveffects? The super-high detail shockwave in that vp is notorious for causing slowdowns precisely when big ships explode, even on fairly high end systems.

Need to know if this is simply caused by mv_adveffects or if it's a bug, so changing status to Feedback. Will close it in a week if noone can confirm that this is in fact a bug.

Closing, unable to reproduce it. Since noone else has reported this, and the original poster appears to have abandoned it, I'm assuming it was the shockwaves.
