Summary0001252: loading new mission in continuation of campaign crashes game in hi-res
DescriptionWhen using a resolution of 1024x768 (16-bit, OpenGL, 4x anisotropic filtering, bilinear filtering), after clicking accept at the conclusion of the mission, the game crashes when finished loading the next mission. No information regarding the game or campaign information in the pilot file is lost, but the problem is annoying.

This is now happening in 640x480 (16 bit color, 4x anisotropic filtering, bilinear filtering) in the same place.

can you try using 32 bit color instead. You will need to change your desktop bit-depth to 32 bit through display settings (right click->properties->settings on your desktop or control panel->display) if its not already at 32 bit.

Any further news? It's been a month, so this bug will get closed as a non-issue if there isn't a status update in the next few days.

I have found that in 32-bit color, the same thing happens. When the mission finshes loading, the game crashes. When the crash occurs, I just tell windows to terminate the program and forget to gather any techincal information. My desktop is at 32-bit color be default, and I run games at whatever color depth I want. With my desktop color depth at this constant, I have come across the crash in the game on both 32- and 16-bit color. I have yet to try different resolutions.

In the past couple weeks I've reinstalled windows xp, and have yet to do more testing and see if the OS was at fault.

One more thing... the reproducibility is not constant. It tends to happen some time after an hour of consecutive play.

What mission/mod are you using?

Does it still crash the same with a debug build, or does it give you more information?

Please attach your pilot files, the fs2_open.log file from the debug build, and your errorlog.txt file.

The debug build is annoying; it complains of every little thing which is its job :P.

I am running the FS2 retail campaign, with the mediaVPs. When I arrive home (I'm at school right now) I will submit the files requested.

Had a chance to get those files yet?

Since the original reporting of this bug 3 months ago, I have in between reinstalled windows and FS2 on my machine, as mentioned previously; therefore, I have no data on whether it works or not on my refreshed system, and have had real life and other such things going on, which have drawn my attention away from this. I apologize.

Just checking whether this is still an issue or not. There really isn't anything for us to do as it is, so without some logs we don't have anything to work from. If it's no longer an issue, or you've got other things to do (RL, etc.), then that's fine but I'd like to do something with this bug rather than just leaving it here without any possible resolution.

Not to push or anything, but after this amount of time I start to get pretty antsy about bugs. :)
