Summary0001247: FRED2 event right-click crash
DescriptionI have a strange problem with a mission in FRED2 3.6.9. If I create a new event and right click on it to get the event properties, the editor crashes. It only occurs with the first new event, and only if I click on the event name itself. This does not happen in the debug build, so I can't get any more information on the crash.

I think I've run into this issue many times before in other missions, but this is the first time I can reproduce it reliably.

Taylor (or anyone else): if you need the mission, post here and I'll PM it to you.

I can't tell. I updated that mission long ago and no longer have the exact version where I could reproduce the bug. I know that it still occurred in the 2/12 FRED2 build and with at least two other missions.

The 2/12 build was the last one I tried, as everything after that exhibited 0001315 and was basically useless.

Has there been any recent change that might have fixed this?

I meant the right click crash.

Anyway, since others are getting this too, someone else will run into it sooner or later if it's still there. It's probably best to leave it open for now.

I just gave this a try with both 3.6.9 Official (well the BtRL version at least) and 3.6.9 CVS and I simply couldn't get it to crash.

Any idea how to reproduce it?

It's very sporadic. I have no idea what exactly causes it. I can point you to a few specific event locations where it has occurred in the past, but it won't crash anymore after some changes I made to those missions (often to completely different events).

It never occurred in debug builds either (in the exact same situations), so it will be hard to track down.

it sometimes happens when you create/insert new events. There is no way to reproduce it. But, you can easily aboid the crash if you, like i do, use left click to change the name rather then the right click. If you can't edit the name then it is time to close event editor and open it again. Then it will work.

seems to be working. At least I have not run into this issue yet. (And arrival cues are fixed as well!)
