| Description | Despite WCSaga installation, I've copied and installed all its contents as an ordinary mod inside FS2 (C:\Freespace2\MOD_WCSaga). So now I run WCSaga through MOD Tab in launcher. One of this mod vps (prologue_anims.vp) has an INTRO.OGG inside \data\movies But if I leave the new FS2 Intro.ogg in C:\Freespace2\ it overrides WCSaga intro.ogg. When the game starts I see FS2 intro despite the higher priority of MOD_WCSaga folder. If I delete FS2 Intro.ogg, then I see WCSaga Intro. (If FS2 movies are inside C:\Freespace2\data\movies\ then the game behaves as expected loading WCSaga Intro). | ||||

That works as expected actually. Files outside of a VP will override files inside of a VP depending on root. But, ROOT files (those in the main game directory) will almost always get loaded/searched first, unless it's in a VP. That is why if you move the FS2 movie into data/movies/ that it will work as you expect. Movies have to be supported in the main ROOT type directories so that they can be used off of the CDs, but you should try and keep anything on your hard drive out of that location unless it's in a VP. It's a bit strange perhaps, but not a bug. |

I'm not sure if this actually could be fixed properly in the code, but it's something that we won't fix even if it was possible. |
