Summary0001108: auto throttle control inefficient
DescriptionIn the October 8th build of v3.6.9, the automatic speed matching is inefficient, that being it behaves like in retail. I found the auto throttle behavior in the 10/06/06 build to be more desirable, which behaves like FS1's auto throttle control.

Please define "inefficient" by explaining how it's different now from before and in what exact way.

There isn't a 10/06/06 or 10/08/06 build of 3.6.9, so I assume that you are referring to CVS builds, which are based on unstable code. But there appears to be no change to that code between those dates, or even over the past year for that matter.

In the 10/06 build, the auto speed match sets the tbrottle's target speed immediately to what speed is to be matched.
In the 10/08 build, the auto speed match automatically has your ship gradually accelerate to the desired speed, whether your throttle is already there or not. This is inefficient in that it does not immediately set and take you to the desired speed, but rather wastes time in gradual acceleration.
This only happens when doing auto speed matching, NOT when you are manually controlling your throttle.

I'm not seeing this either, yet. Make sure in your testing that you're the same distance from the target, no matter which build you're on. IIRC when you're really close it will make more gradual adjustments.

Regardless of whether this issue even exists, it's not a bug. If it behaves like retail then it's going to stay that way.
