| Summary | 0001091: Too many missions in mission directory causes crash | ||||
| Description | This definately happens on a standalone but I haven't tried it on a regular server. I know this one dates clear back to 1.2. Not sure what the limit is. | ||||

Just marking as feedback those bugs which should either be fixed in the next available build from me, or need to be tested as fixed in the next available build. (There are so many new bugs right now, it's easier for me to keep up with the fixed or almost-fixed bugs this way.) |

* SEMI-BUMP * I don't get this in the new code, but I tested it under the old code as well and it still didn't crash for me. I had about 1500 .fs2 mission files in there but no crash. I know there there were two possible limits, 512 and 1000, missions which it would search for. Going over either of those shouldn't cause a crash though. I thought that I may have simply fixed this in the new code, but if I'm not coming up with a valid test case to actually reproduce the crash then the problem may still be there. I don't suppose you can go through the trouble of trying to determine approximately what number of files will cause the crash? Also, it would be helpful to have a crash log (errorlog.txt) and debug log (fs.log) from when it crashes so that I can compare it to what I got. |

I'm not getting it now either. Maybe something that was fixed? I'm not positive but I think it would happen during the validating missions part. Could it have been a PXO/FS2netD problem that has been fixed on the server end? Maybe something with the launcher version? Going back through my downloads it looks like I was running 3.6.9 RC7 dated 8-29-06 and launcher dated 6-23-04 at the time. I know this existed in the orginal game because I made a sub-directory to keep test missions and old versions in. I also tried to restore all the files that were in the dirctory at the time. Looks like there were about 301 files with 241 being .fs2 and 3 being .fc2. I don't know what I reduced the number to to get it to work because I later cleaned the directory up to include mostly validated missions to prevent mission related crashes. |

Strange. Well, I'll just leave this open then and you can verify that it either does or doesn't happen in the next build. If it doesn't happen then I'll just assume that it was fixed on one end or the other. There were several possible problem areas though, all of which have been rewritten, so if one of those was the issue here then it should be fixed. |

Sounds good. I came up with a couple of more scenerios to try on the way home but forgot to leave standalone up. I noticed there was no validating missions message when I created the game. Don't know if that has been changed or has always been that way. That is where it used to crash right as the standalone was validating missions after the host player joined. Other thing is just to join and exit a few time to get it to validate a few times. Will try these tomorrow and let you know if I find anything. Tried them. Still no crash. |
