I think that is because <any wingman> expression sometimes chooses ships that are currently hidden by ship-vanish. |

Hmm! Interesting idea. I must chime in and confirm that this happens to me too, but in such an inconsistent manner that it's hard to track down. I noticed it especially in FSPort so I assumed it was mission error, but Goob looked and saw no problem. It nearly always happens in 'The Darkness and the Light', among others. |

By the way another problem with messages: sound sometimes don't play in standart ingame wingmen replies to your orders. Text is diplayed but no speech |

I used to get this fairly often in the retail FS2 days. In sm1-04 for example, the "Command, we're in..." and "One wing of Maras..." messages frequently didn't play. I haven't seen it in years though. |
