Summary0001027: Protect-ship doesn't fully protect Alpha 1
DescriptionEven with Protect-ship Alpha 1, I sometimes get attacked. Nevertheless it takes little time till the enemy fighters disengage.
Steps To ReproduceI upload a quite modified version of Derelict's "The Stars are Right" (DL2-11.fs2). I've been using this mission to learn a lot of things about FRED and as you can see in the event "Initial Settings" which is triggered with When True, I protect and make my ship invulnerable.

This is because I want to see how the mission, beams, ship movements, etc., look without worrying about fighting or dying.

But after enemies arrive, (at about 4:50, use time compression), player ship is sometimes attacked.

Does it do the same thing with the retail version?

Protect-ship isn't always reliable for me either, but this is a compatibility thing.

I don't know if it happens with retail too and I can't test as I haven't got retail anymore. And I think that this mission isn't compatible with retail anymore (activate/deactivate glow maps and so on ...).

So use the original retail version of Derelict. You know, the one released before the SCP came along.

You can download the base version of FSO (nearly the same as retail) from here:

I've just tried fs2_orig_r.exe with a tweaked original dl2-11.fs2 (setting Alpha1 as protect-ship and invulnerable) and it has the same behaviour, I am sometimes attacked.

Okay, this won't be fixed then. We have to maintain retail AI compatability. If you really need someone to not attack, use ai-ignore-new.
