Summary | 0003047: HEADZ do not play for the proper length. | ||||
Description | 1: Heads should play/repeat until the voice file is finished. This is currently not happening. 2: Heads should play based on the length of the character count of the message. This too, is not happening. | ||||
Steps To Reproduce | 1: Load retail, play the Bellisarius mission. Watch as the Heads disappear while the voice is still playing. 2: Load retail with the attached mission. Watch as the Head stops playing quickly even though the message is super duper long. | ||||
Additional Information | Per my research, this may actually be a partial feature request/bug fix.. who knows. See this thread. http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=87658.0 Also, mantis 0002588 should be helpful. Revision 6358 from Switfy seems highly suspect. "Swifty: Huh. It turns out the correct behavior for Talking Heads is to play once and not loop. Yay for one line fixes" If that is what Volition intended, it's super dumb and we need to do something about it so that things look nice. Obviously they did loop at once point.. meaning retail behavior. | ||||

Regarding the first issue, it actually is retail behavior to play the head ANI just once and not loop (I checked just now). If you view the ANIs in VPView32 (or any program that can loop them), you'll see why this is correct: namely, that most of the head ANIs don't loop seamlessly. While it's certainly a good idea to provide a way to loop head ANIs, it should not be the default behavior for the reason stated above. |

After further discussion, this is more a feature than a bug. |
