Summary0001514: Homesick mod; Beta wing missing in When Pirates Attack mission
DescriptionWhen playing the Homesick mod campaign, Beta wing is missing and marked as destroyed from mission start in the mission "When Pirates Attack." Alpha 3 has a long, one-sided conversation with himself; I can only assume he was supposed to be talking to members of Beta wing. I've tried restarting, and also playing through the previous mission just to make sure Beta didn't die in a freak accident before the transition from the "Capella, Capella" mission. The bug is reproduced every single time. This is making the mission close to impossible, since I have to do Beta's job as well as mine, and losing even a single ship from the convoy results in mission failure.

Can you prove this is an SCP problem and not a data problem? For example, does it work in an older/newer build? If so, which one?

No, I can't; I've only ever played it in 3.6.9. In any case, I managed to scrape by with the mission, so it's no longer a direct problem for me, but the mod's creators might want to take a look at that.

Homesick was made by Blaise Russel; if you're still interested in pursuing this bug report, I'd suggest that you contact him about it or search some of the threads on the campaign for mention of either the bug or a patch for the campaign.

I can't think of anything Lua-scripting related that would cause this bug; I don't believe Homesick uses it anyway.

I'm pretty sure that this is, or is at least related to, a pilot file bug that I fixed recently. That or a RedAlert bug that got fixed a few months ago. Either way I assume that this has already been addressed.

I'm going to test it myself though and then resolve this bug if it proves fixed in current builds.

It's not related to the bugs that I've fixed, but it is pilot file related. And it's mission related as well. The code only allows the first 32 ships to get fully carried over in red-alert. Given the way that it works, and the layout of the mission, it's going over this limit by the time that it gets to Beta wing. So, they would end up as dead in the red-alert mission.

Fixing this is simple, but it can't be done without breaking pilot files. The thing to do to keep the mod compatible with current builds is to fix the mission in question.
