Summary | 0001423: Misplaced object names and info when -fredhtl flag is used
Description | In retail FRED2 (see "fred2_orig.jpg" screenshot) or if -fredhtl flag is not used, (see "fred2_3.6.9. (htl off).jpg") the info of the objects is always located in the same way: The object is always in the upper left corner of the text. But if -fredhtl flag is used, the text "floats" somehow around this original position, (see "fred2_3.6.9. (htl on).jpg" or just drag one ship in fred and look how the name moves). This last behaviour makes mouse clicking selection on objects quite difficult. IMO, -fredhtl shouldn't have any effect on the position of the text.

this is a known and ancient bug from the introduction of the HTL system - it's the same bug that causes misplaced HUD elements in widescreen resolutions. It will be fixed in 3.7 |
